Hartigan Fuels was started by Patrick Hartigan in 2008. A firewood processor was purchased to cut and split firewood on a part time basis and it gradually developed into a full time job. Since then the business has grown with the support and help of many family, friends, neighbours, the wider community, neighbouring parishes and passing trade along the N69 in Clarina where the new depot was built in 2012.

A wide range of solid fuel, from kiln dried firewood, smokeless coals and cylinder gas is now sold in the depot.

In 2016 Patrick started supplying sand and gravel to the domestic and construction sectors. There is now also a wide range of decorative stone and topsoil. These products can be collected in the depot or delivered in tonne bags or small loose loads by a tipper truck.
